Jochem studied Biology (specialization animal biology) at the WUR. After his MSC studies he did his PhD research at the Toxicology chair group of the WUR (in collaboration with UU-IRAS and TNO) where he worked on the development of animal-free methods for the risk assessment of chemicals. After his PhD, Jochem worked as a postdoc on the development of in vitro models based on human stem cells at the EURL-ECVAM of the Joint Research Center (JRC) in Italy. After this postdoc, Jochem worked as aan ssistant professor Toxicology at the WUR, after which he started working as a toxicologist at the KWR Watercycle Research Institute. Since May 2018 Jochem has been working as a toxicologist at RIKILT Wageningen University and Research, where he mainly focuses on the development and application of animal-free methods for the risk assessment of chemicals.
