Johannes is assistant professor 'radar remote sensing' at the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing, Wageningen University. He obtained his PhD (2015) from Wageningen University and his MSc (2011) from the University of Jena. His PhD research focused on combining radar and optical satellite data for tropical forest monitoring.
His research interest is on utilizing radar remote sensing to unravel human activities in and dynamics of forest ecosystems, with a strong focus on multi-sensor methods and near real-time change monitoring. He leads the radar remote sensing group, and teaches radar remote sensing in the Master Geo-Information Science. A list of publications can be found via Google Scholar or ResearchGate.
