As a part of the SoftBreak project I develop models for failure in soft (polymeric) materials, such as gels and rubbers. I am especially interested in failure processes in multi-component materials, such as inter-penetrating networks, and heterogeneous materials.

My research is based on the philosophy that general trends in soft matter physics can often be explained by simple models. We interpret polymer networks as networks of (entropic) springs and use this concept to model physical phenomena that are observed in experiments or predicted by theory.
