Selçuk is a research scientist in the Soil Geography and Landscape group and member of the NWO project, Badlands in a Temperate Mediterranean environment, at Wageningen University. He works in the Geomodelling Department at the Geological Survey of the Netherlands (part of TNO).

Selçuk is a geologist with various research interests in earth & planetary sciences including structural geology, tectonic geomorphology, fluvial sedimentology and Quaternary geochronology. His research is based on understanding the geometry of the rock structure and earth surface dynamics in various geological time scales and environments (particularly in extensional tectonic regimes and orogenic zones). He carries out his investigation with field-based geological and structural mapping, and Quaternary geochronological dating methods for geological reconstructions. He performs dynamic landscape erosion modelling (e.g. LAPSUS) to assess catchment-wide landscape evolution quantitatively. Additionally, he has experience in (palaeo)landslides at orogen scale, their spatio-temporal distribution and topographic patterns as an indicator for natural hazards.
