dr. W (Wenyuan) Liang

Postdoc researcher

Dr. Wenyuan Liang is currently a postdoc researcher at the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy Group (FNP) of Wageningen University & Research (WUR). Regarding his name, “Wen” means literacy, and “yuan” means advanced, which is best wishes from his parents.

He gained a Degree of Doctor in 2023 from WUR (the Netherlands) and holds a master’s degree in Forestry Economics and Management and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics both from Renmin University of China (China). During his PhD research, he analyzed Chinese cases and focused on environmental conflicts caused by clashes between forestland property rights and forest conservation policies.

In his current postdoc research, he focuses on Integrative Forest Management (IFM) as a part of the Transformit project, funded by the Horizon Europe program. The overall objective of the Transformit project is to demonstrate and improve the effectiveness of IFM to combine productive forestry and biodiversity conservation.
