Science illustration covered in the Volkskrant
In science – like everywhere else – a picture says more than a thousand words. Thus visualization of scientific results is an important form of communication to quickly convey the desired message to fellow scientists and humans in general.
Many aspects need to be considered in order not to be misleading. However, there's often also space for 'artistic freedom', e.g. in the choice of colors.
Dutch journalist Frank Rensen interviewed Sonja Schmid and others about such decision making at the interface of science and art, which is now covered in the Dutch newspaper Volkskrant.
