Welcome Benjamin Vermeer PhD

In April, we welcomed Benjamin Vermeer as a new PhD candidate. He joins Sonja Schmid’s group to study the central molecular chaperone Hsp90 using single-molecule FRET. For example, he will build Frankenstein-like structures to disentangle which structural elements are decisive for particular functions of this large dimeric protein. To this end, we will develop new detection schemes that help us to see the previously unseen and thereby learn more about this fascinating Hsp90 system and proteins in general.
