Microbiome, Lumen & Diet

Microbiome, Lumen & Diet aims to identify and exploit the ecological concepts that define the microbiota composition and function of the human intestine, notably those residing in different luminal parts of the small- and large intestine, as they are expected to be in direct contact with the food we consume.

The research is focused on studying key intestinal microbes, their interactions and functions, and how these are impacted by diet. Lines of research focus on hypotheses and novel/improved concepts generated from in vivo observations, and testing those, in vitro, in synthetic communities as well as in vivo by dedicated intervention studies.
