From April 29th to May 8th, 2015, fourteen PhD candidates from the chair groups Physical Chemistry & Soft Matter and BioNanoTechnology went on a study trip to England, accompanied by Prof. Jasper van der Gucht, Prof. Frans Leermakers and Dr. Joshua Dijksman. We had the opportunity to visit leading academic groups and industrial research sites throughout the country (see the table below). At the host institutes, we exchanged information and ideas in the form of mini-symposia, talks, discussions and poster sessions, with contributions from both sides. The committee would like to sincerely thank everyone involved for making this study tour a success. To illustrate this, one of the questions in the post-trip questionnaire was to rate the trip on a scale of 1 to 10. On average, we received an 8. We are very grateful to our sponsors, hosts and host institutes, and our participants for making this event possible.
