In the Colloidal and Optical Materials group of Joris Sprakel, we work on the preparation and study of new materials based on colloidal building blocks. Our work ranges from the development of new chemical strategies to prepare functional colloidal building blocks to the study of the physics of dense colloidal systems.
Within this huge playground of colloid science, with one foot in both chemistry and physics, we focus on three main themes:
1) Self-assembly of responsive colloids in the bulk and at interfaces
2) Soft conjugated polymer materials for self-assembled optoelectronics
3) Film formation and coalescence in complex colloidal systems
