During is master, Mahmoud worked on fish nutrition.

His Major thesis was about “The Effect of dietary oxygen demand on feed intake in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)”.

Also he did his minor thesis on “The relation between pellet water stability characteristics and digestibility coefficients for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)”. Recently Mahmoud is doing his PhD on Fish nutrition. The main focus is on energy evaluation of Nile tilapia diets. During his PhD Mahmoud is investigating and looking for different aspects, such as:

The effect of the use of plant ingredients as substitutes for fishmeal and fish oil on energy metabolism of Nile tilapia.

The impact of diet composition on growth in different body compartments.

Assessing the net energy evaluation system for Nile tilapia.
