The annual prize for the best article in 2017 in Migration Studies is written by Ken Horvath, Anna Amelina and Karin Peters.

The article 'Re-thinking the politics of migration: On the uses and challenges of regime perspectives for migration research' was part of a special issue on migration regimes. This special issue was the outcome of the midterm conference 'Contested Migration Regimes' organised by the Research Network Sociology of Migration of the European Sociological Association. Due to various reasons, the best articles for the years 2015 to 2018 have been announced in the journal only recently.

Assistant Professor Karin Peters of the Cultural Geography chair group of Wageningen University says that the article has generated much attention and its first author has received more questions and comments than he had ever experienced. Much of the feedback has been positive.
