Assessment of stakeholder interaction in complex water systems: case study in Benidorm

The Environmental Systems Analysis Group provides the possibility for students to do their thesis in collaboration with our group. This is one of many possible thesis subjects. Please feel free to contact Maria Reyes Peres MSc PhD (right) for more information.

SIMTWIST (Simulating tourism water consumption with stakeholders) is a three-year European project that aims to inform tourism decision-makers about the effectiveness of a variety of measures to reduce tourism’s water consumption. The project aims to 1) estimate tourism’s share in current and future macro-level water scarcity in the Mediterranean, and 2) study and simulate water-related behavior of tourism stakeholders at the micro-level. The project has two case-study areas: Benidorm and Rimini.

This thesis or internship project entails: 1) analyzing stakeholder relations based on available data (concept models and interviews with key stakeholders); 2) analyzing important current and future issues/problems perceived by stakeholders; 3) developing creative techniques to convey results to stakeholders in a workshop and 4) co-designing the methodology for a Group-Model Building stakeholder workshop.
