Honourable mentioning for Stijn at the Archiprix 2019
Stijn Lanters, one of our graduates from Landscape Architecture, received an honourable mention during the award ceremony at the Archiprix 2019 Saturday June 22. Stijn has acquired the honourable mention with his design of the Campanhã Urban Park.
The captivating design is meant for a park, situated at a peripheral area of the city of Porto on the derelict site of a former power plant. ... He has succeeded, on the basis of research and an analysis of wishes by the local community, in designing a powerful plan that works in a connective way on several levels. With strong designing interventions, an artisan approach and by conceptual research into such terrains vagues, the plan has succeeded in offering tools, with which to investigate the potential of such ill-defined landscapes and to develop this further. The MSc- thesis (2017) was supervised by Dr Marlies Brinkhuijsen, ESG-WUR. Stijn has been working at MVRDV, one of the larger globally operating Dutch architectural bureaus, since his graduation.
