Wild coffee populations becoming extinct

Niels Anten was interviewed by Trouw about the concern about wild coffee populations becoming extinct.

These wild coffee varieties are an important resource to derive climate and disease pest resistance in coffee. CSA itself is involved in this type research having shown, together with IRD in France and NARO in Uganda, that wild coffee populations in half of Uganda's forests have become genetically so contaminated that they are no longer genetically distinct from the cultivated coffee.
