Exciting conference alert! ENP’s Associate Professor, Dr. Aarti Gupta, is on the Scientific Advisory Committee for the next Annual Global Conference on Transparency Research, to be held in Rio de Janeiro in June 2019. The call for papers is now open and deadline is October 31, 2018. This is the world’s premier international conference on transparency research, where multidisciplinary and multi-methodological vantage points are presented. The Conference theme is "Measuring Transparency: Impact, Compliance, and Implementation". To submit an abstract, click here.

The global transparency conference comes two years after the Environmental Policy Group (ENP) organized its own international “Transparency and Sustainability” conference). Outcomes and highlights of the conference can be found here). This conference brought international speakers to Wageningen University to engage in an interdisciplinary debate about the transparency-sustainability relationship, and helped to outline a future research agenda in this field.

In the last two years, transparency has come ever more to the fore, particularly in the sustainability domain. This is especially evident in the 2015 Paris climate agreement’s call for transparency as a key means by which to enhance equitable and ambitious collective climate action, and hold countries to account for meeting their self-determined obligations.
