Open call for PhD positions in the field of environmental sociology and political science

We are looking for a motivated and independent PhD candidate to work with the Environmental Policy Group at Wageningen University on any of the five thematic research areas of food governance, marine governance, urban transformations, climate futures and environmental mobilities (see www.enp.wur.nl for details).

Requirements  

Your successful selection to this position is based on your academic track record (see below), the theoretical and methodological quality of your ideas, your ability to communicate (both written and verbally) your two-page research proposal, and how aligned the proposal is to the ongoing research of the Environmental Policy Group.
You will also meet the entry requirements of the WUR PhD programme:
We would like you to be available to take this position up in late 2018.

Academic track record
The assessment of grades follows the Dutch Scientific Organisation's criteria.
Candidates following or having concluded their academic education in The Netherlands: The overall weighted average grade of the completed bachelor study is at least the Dutch grade 7,5 and the overall weighted average grade of the completed first year of the master study is at least the Dutch grade 8,0.

Candidates following or having concluded their academic education outside of The Netherlands: The candidate's grades must be converted to a grade according to the United States Grade Point Average (GPA) on a 4 point scale. The overall weighted average GPA of the completed bachelor study is at least 3.37 and the overall weighted average GPA of the completed first year of the master study (see also footnote 2) is at least 3.95.  

Conditions of employment  

The candidate will be employed by the Wageningen University for the duration of the study. In principle this is a 48 month PhD position.
We offer you a temporary contract for 18 months which will be extended with 30 months after a positive evaluation. Salary will increase from € 2266 gross per month in the first year up to € 2897 in the last year, based on a full-time appointment (38 hours a week). In addition, we offer a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-the-year bonus of 8.3% of your annual salary.

Candidates invited for an interview will be asked to present their proposal (in 10 minutes) to a panel of three staff members from the Environmental Policy Group.
