BSc thesis documents CPT

Bachelor students in various study programmes can do their thesis with CPT. Below you can find the thesis documents (manual, contract and assessment form) and some specific points of attention for the BCL, BGM, BIN, BBC and BVG programmes.

Communication and Life Sciences (BCL)

Important specifics

  • The BCL thesis will be supervised by two supervisors. The first supervisor is always a COM/KTI staff member. The second supervisor is a staff member of one of the Life Sciences chair groups.
  • You can start with your BCL thesis when you have completed: 
    o At least 120 ECTS (of the total of 180 ECTS), including:
    o All courses of the first year
    o At least 42 ECTS of the second year
    o At least 18 ECTS of the 24 ECTS of your Life Science minor
    o At least 6 ECTS of the third year
    Contact your study advisor to get permission to start your thesis.
  • Complete the contract in MS Word, print, collect signatures of both supervisors, and hand in a hard copy and pdf at the CPT secretariat. NOTE: include the percentages of supervision (for example, 70%/30%) for the two supervisors in the contract.
  • The thesis will be assessed by 3 people:

    • The COM/KTI supervisor especially assesses the research procedure and accompanying skills, as well as the final report.
    • The supervisor from Life Sciences assesses the relevance for the Life Sciences field.
    • A 3rd evaluator/ examiner (COM/KTI) assesses the quality of the final report and is only present during the examination.
  • Colloquium (presentation of final results) is compulsory.

Health and Society (BGM)

  • You can start with your BGM thesis when you have completed: 
    o At least 120 ECTS (of the total of 180 ECTS), including:
    o All courses of the first year
    o At least 50 ECTS of the second year
    o At least 6 ECTS of the third year
    Contact your study advisor to get permission to start your thesis.
  • Complete the contract in MS Word, print, collect signatures and submit a scanned pdf version (info.cpt@wur.nl) or hard copy at the CPT secretariat.
  • BSc Thesis will be assessed by the supervisor (COM/KTI) who especially assesses the research procedure and accompanying skills. A 2nd reviewer/examiner (COM/KTI) assesses the quality of the final report and is only present during the examination.
  • Colloquium (presentation of final results) is compulsory.

International Development Studies (BIN)

  • The BSc Thesis will be assessed by the supervisor (COM/KTI) who especially assesses the research procedure and accompanying skills. A 2nd reviewer/examiner (COM/KTI) assesses the quality of the final report and is only present during the examination.
  • Colloquium (presentation of final results) is NOT compulsory for BIN-students.   

Management and Consumer Studies (BBC)

  • COM/KTI supervise BSc theses of specialisation B Consumer studies.
  • You can start with your BBC thesis when you have completed:
    o At least 120 ECTS (of the total of 180 ECTS), including:
    o All courses of the first year
    o At least 42 ECTS of the second year, including CPT 23306 (preparatory course needed to write a thesis at CPT)
    o The Bachelor Assessment
    Contact your study advisor to get permission to start your thesis.
  • Complete the contract in MS Word, print, collect signatures and submit a scanned pdf version (info.cpt@wur.nl) or hard copy at the CPT secretariat.
  • The BSc thesis will be assessed by supervisor (COM/KTI) who will especially assess the research procedure and accompanying skills. A 2nd reviewer/examiner (COM/KTI) assesses the quality of the final report and is only present during the examination.
  • Colloquium (presentation of final results) is compulsory.

Nutrition and Health (BVG)

  • You can start with your BVG thesis when you have completed: 
    o At least 120 ECTS (of the total of 180 ECTS), including:
    o All courses of the first year
    Contact your study advisor to get permission to start your thesis.
  • The kick-off meeting organised by the BVG study advisors is compulsory.
  • Complete the contract in MS Word, print, collect signatures and submit a scanned pdf version (info.cpt@wur.nl) or hard copy at the CPT secretariat. You DO NOT have to hand in a copy at the BVG secretariat.
  • The BSc thesis will be assessed by supervisor (COM/KTI) who will especially assess the research procedure and accompanying skills. A 2nd reviewer/examiner (COM/KTI) assesses the quality of the final report and is only present during the examination.
  • Colloquium (presentation of final results) is compulsory.
