
Landslide-EVO: Citizen Science for Disaster Resilience in Mountain Regions

The main aim of the Landslide EVO is to increase resilience to hydrologically induced landslide and flood hazards in mountainous Western Nepal. Our interdisciplinary team will leverage the recent advances in in-situ/remote monitoring, vulnerability assessment, and polycentric risk governance, to co-generate locally actionable knowledge for disaster risk reduction and resilience building.
This project is funded by NERC (Natural Environment Research Council) and DFID (Department for International Development) under the UK SHEAR (Science for Humanitarian Emergencies and Resilience) program (grant number NE/P000452/1).
SHEAR focuses on four areas: disaster risk assessment (mapping and analyses), sub-seasonal to seasonal forecasting, disaster risk monitoring, and the integration of these into practical decision making.
The Landslide EVO consortium is interdisciplinary, and brings together experts in environmental science, engineering, social sciences (policy and governance, development studies, resilience), citizen science, and computational modelling.
