Education of the Research Methodology Group

The Research Methodology group (RME) teaches courses to BSc, MSc, Research Master and PhD students, in English as well as in Dutch, both on an introductory and an advanced level.

The research methods and techniques dealt with cover both quantitative and qualitative approaches in social scientific research. A number of our courses belong to the compulsory curriculum of the various study programmes of Wageningen University, while others are optional for individual students.

The participants in our courses have different disciplinary backgrounds, varying from technical studies like Environmental Sciences and Forest and Nature Conservation Science to economic and sociological disciplines like Management, Economics and Consumer Studies, and International Development Studies.

Each year more than 600 students complete one of the courses offered by RME. In addition the members of RME contribute to several courses offered by other groups at the department. Students have the opportunity to opt for a specialization in research methodology. Moreover, RME participates in Wageningen School of Social Sciences PhD courses.

Courses on demand

We also offer short courses, modules and workshops about specific methodological issues. For example an interview training, a training in participant observation or a training in questionnaire construction.
