Sustainability is a transboundary issue, which cannot – and arguably should not – be regulated within one jurisdiction, sector or one policy domain. Our focus
The role of transnational regulation and governance, including both public and private rules, has been steadily expanding in all the thematic areas of WCSG, including the social, environmental and economic sustainability of food systems, landscapes and climate.
Our research will focus on the design and functioning of transnational regulation through both disciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives, including their implications for public, private, national and international governance. Under this theme, we seek to advance theories of polycentricity, anticipatory governance, and environmental flows.
