Minerals and environment

The national government’s policy is aimed at enhancing the development of environmentally friendly agriculture, in order to reduce emissions of nitrogen (N) and phosphor (P) and improve the quality of soil, air and water. International agreements have been made to attain environmental goals, examples are: the Nitrates directive, Water Framework Directive, NEC Directive, IPPC Directive and Air Quality Directive. Regular research checks whether these international agreements are met. Depending on the outcome of this research, national laws and regulations can be adjusted if necessary.
