Decline wild pollinatiors

Insight into the causes of the decline of honeybees and wild pollinators is needed in order to take measures to, so measures can be taken to counteract this.

Wild pollinator species are becoming increasingly important for crop pollination but at the same time wild pollinator populations are experiencing serious declines.

This project examines the potential contribution of wild bees to the pollination of crops in The Netherlands. The project furthermore explores the role of (shortages in) food availability in the ongoing decline of many species of wild bee species.

Ultimately a review will show what measures can be implemented to effectively mitigate the population decline of bees. The project will explore to what extent insights gained for wild pollinators can effectively be extrapolated to honey bees.
