Funding Central Rift Valley

This project is financed through different projects and sponsors. From 2006 to 2009, this project was financed by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food quality as part of the project ‘Ecosystems for water, food and economic development in the Central Rift Valley of Ethiopia’ (BO-10-006-022.02).

From 2008 to 2010 additional financial support was received through  the partnership program of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Development Cooperation and Wageningen University and research centre on Globalization and sustainable rural development within theme 2 -- Competing claims on natural resources.

In 2010 and 2011 the project is further continued within the 'Land use planning program for the Central Rift Valley of Ethiopia' financed by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food quality and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Development Cooperation.

In 2011, a climate component of the project is financed through the Netherlands policy support research project on ‘sustainable agricultural strategies in a climate change context in Ethiopia (BO-009-107)’, which is sponsored by the newly formed Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation.
