Objectives

The major goal of the WSSC is to provide excelent facilities and resources for advanced seed research, technology and education at the national and international levels.

The WSSC is the expertise centre for seed science technology, research and education from Wageningen University & Research. It emerged from the fusion between the former Wageningen Seed Lab (WSL) and Wageningen Seed Centre (WSC).

The activities of Wageningen Seed Science Centre (WSSC) address the following challenge: "To produce enough food and raw material to sustain mankind while achieving an appropriate balance between the exploitation of natural resources and the maintenance of the environment".

WSSC collaborates with wide variety of partners at universities, national and international research institutes, non-governmental organisations (NGO's) and actors in the private and public seed industry, including the Netherlands General Inspection Service for Agricultural Seeds and Seed Potatoes (NAK) and the Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture (Naktuinbouw).
