One of the most important tasks of Wageningen Food Safety Research is to measure and detect substances and contaminations in food and feed. This concerns substances which may have negative effects on humans and animals, such as pesticides, toxins, hormones, antibiotics, environmental contaminants and heavy metals, but also microbiological and virological contamination. Wageningen Food Safety Research has been appointed as the official control laboratory by the government and therefore makes an important contribution to safe food.
