Wageningen Food Safety Research is National Reference Laboratory for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and is involved in the analysis of heavy metals and toxic elements in food and feed. This is laid down in
- heavy metals according to Regulation (EC) No 882/2004
- toxic elements in animal products according to Directive 96/23/EC
These describe the activities which Wageningen Food Safety Research uses as an NRL in the context of heavy metals and toxic elements according to Regulation (EC) nr. 882/2004 and Directive 96/23/EC.
Independent quality assurance
To obtain independent quality assurance and to validate and compare test methods, Wageningen Food Safety Research participates in validating and inter-laboratory comparison studies and proficiency test organised by EU-RL and third parties. The results are reported to and discussed with the EU-RL.
