Research into autonomous vehicles and crop protection focuses on integration of automatic crop protection and safe autonomous vehicles.
Automatic crop protection requires sensor techniques for crop measurements and subsequent use of mathematical rules to determine the required dose level of a crop protection product. Safe autonomous vehicles are characterised by sensors monitoring the environment of vehicles and taking decisions whether the vehicles can continue driving or not.
Sensor information is combined within these sections, which results in valuable information. This approach has, e.g., also led to robust weed recognition in the crop row, where it now enables mechanical weeding.
