Workshop Uncertainty Analysis of the Benchmarking Atlas
Speakers:
Jeroen van der Sluijs (Universiteit Utrecht)
Peter Janssen (Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving)
George van Voorn & Iwan Supit
The aim of the IP/OP-theme “Sustainable and Smart Food Supply” (BASIS) is to develop, apply and exploit methods to reveal opportunities for sustainable intensification of agricultural production in order to realize a 70% increase by 2050. A Benchmarking Atlas will be developed to inform stakeholders of these opportunities. However, there are many sources of uncertainty surrounding current and future estimates of actual yields and yield potentials, which is relevant information that needs to be taken into account when developing the Benchmarking Atlas.
This workshop is a kick-off meeting in which 1/ an inventory of the sources of uncertainty is made, and 2/ ideas how to quantify them are formulated and 3/ how to communicate the results to future Benchmarking Atlas users.
The program is as follows:
10.00-10.15 Opening, introduction of the subject of the workshop
10.15-10.45 Presentation by Jeroen v.d. Sluijs about qualitative uncertainty assessments
10.45-11.15 Presentation by Peter Janssen about uncertainties in policy evaluations
11.15-11.30 Break
11.30-12.15 Brainstorm session with regard to the 3 formulated goals
12.15-12.30 Formulating conclusions and program closure
