Indonesian palm oil for biodiesel rarely sustainable

Palm oil imported by EU countries for use as biodiesel is often not sustainable. That was the conclusion of a study by Wageningen PhD candidate Nima Khasanah. She concludes that converting rainforest to palm oil plantations reduces the chance that those plantations meet EU-requirements for sustainability. The same goes for oil palms grown on bogland.
