Complex Adaptive Systems
Nowadays landscape conservation is part of the provinces remit, according to the Pact for Nature. National and provincial authorities have asked the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) to evaluate policies that result from the Pact for Nature. Moreover, many new developments have entered the Dutch nature policy.
This calls for a new type of modelling that takes changing circumstances, adaptive learning and interactions between various actors into account. Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) modelling with an agent-based model (ABM) could offer these opportunities. This project will search for the possibilities for the application of CAS modelling with an ABM as a basis for evaluation of the Dutch nature policy.
