European Topic Centre on Climate Change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation

The European Topic Centre on Air and Climate Change (ETC / ACC) supports the next four years the development of climate adaptation in Europe in providing the knowledge base.

The ETC/CCA supports the activities of the European Environment Agency (EEA) to support the European climate change adaptation strategy, published in 2013, by providing the knowledge basis for its implementation. The activities are implemented through a consortium of European institutions, which include other PEER-partners, within a framework agreement up to 2018. Within the overall annual implementation plans, Alterra focuses on providing contribution to EEA reports, including periodic assessment of climate change impacts in Europe and of national adaptation policy, and the maintenance of the European information system on climate change adaptation, Climate-ADAPT. More specifically, in 2014 Alterra contributes to reports about urban vulnerability indicators (map book in Eye-on-Earth) and urban adaptation, in collaboration with the ETC Spatial Information and Analysis (of which Alterra is also a partner), and to an evaluation of the current adaptation strategies in the 33 EEA member states. It also continues to work on Climate-ADAPT, specifically focusing on good practice case studies for urban areas, water management and water safety.
