China is a priority country for Wageningen Univesity & Research

China

China - as large and rapidly developing country - is one of the priority countries for Wageningen University & Research (WUR). Due to the astonishing transformation in its economic and geopolitical status over the past 30 years, it is a country from which developments we can learn a lot.

The relation with China got a boost in 2012 when the first steps towards engaging with private sector organizations in China took place and WUR entered into cooperation  with leading organizations, i.e.: COFCO Group, Yili Group, Weiming Group, Futong Group, LAD, etc.

WUR also has close ties with leading Chinese academic organisations, i.e.: Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Chinese
Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), China Agricultural University (CAU), Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) and Tsinghua University.

Chinese students are well represented in Wageningen. Both MSc and PhD students make up 10% of the Wageningen students population and the trend is set to continue increasingly.

Mrs. Xiaoyong Zhang is the dedicated WUR Manager International Cooperation for China and is a linking pin between Chinese organizations and universities and WUR. As a consequence of the many ongoing activities between WUR and China, WUR has a China office in Beijing
since 2009.
