Genebank collections of pig
Boar semen was conserved from 1999. Semen collections originate from boars of breeding lines of Dutch pig breeding organisations.
In the genebank database it is possible to search for pig breeds yourself.
The collection consist mainly of snapshots of breeding lines that were constructed from 1960 untill 1980. Some breeding lines are only present in The Netherlands. Nowadays some of these lines are merged together and became a new line. An example: The NNNN-line, L-line and the Fomeva Z1-line all originate from 100% Dutch Landrace.
