Climate summit COP26
The 26th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP) is to take place from 1 to 12 November 2021 in Glasgow. During this summit, the participating countries work to further detail the Paris agreement. The “Paris Rule Book” (containing the implementation guidelines) will thus be finalised. Wageningen University & Research scientists endeavour to provide the delegations with accurate information, and WUR will also closely follow the negotiating processes.
Many climate measures focus on reducing the emission of greenhouse gasses. These are the so-called mitigation measures. The impact of climate change is felt in many places in nature, urban areas and agricultural businesses. Adapting to these new conditions is a key aspect of climate policy. Mitigation and adaptation are frequently addressed separately, while an integrated approach offers more opportunities. WUR has a strong track record in mitigation and adaptation, as well as a combination of both. Examples can be found in the online Climate Solutions magazine.
