Some sea turtles travel over 3500 kilometers. Wageningen researchers and local NGOs wanting to know more about the lives and the long migrations of sea turtles in the Caribbean are doing their best to capture the animals and fit them with transmitters, to follow their migration routes. A huge amount of sand was deposited near Kijkduin in 2011 to be distributed further across the beach by the natural currents: the so-called 'sand motor'.
