Video: How Wageningen research helps The Ocean Cleanup achieve their mission

Can we figure out how long this toothbrush has been in the ocean or where it is from? At Wageningen University & Research we worked on a project for The Ocean Cleanup. Like real detectives we analyze rigid plastic items they collected from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Using the Litter-ID protocol developed by Wageningen University & Research, we sort the items and look for hints to discover details like the origin and age.
