In the future there will be increasing demands on plants for sufficient energy and food supply. To meet these requirements, there is a need for large-scale breeding.
This will allow the creation of varieties adapted to various conditions as climate change, salination or marginal areas.
For a large-scale breeding new methods for rapid high-throughput phenotyping part are necessary, and also methods for analyzing the data to discover the relationship between genotype and phenotype.
The aim of this project is to develop a toolbox of data analysis, algorithms and automated phenotyping (image analysis) of plants for the prediction and improvement of plant traits such as yield and quality.
