Altmetrics might be useful for groups to monitor their impact on social media and the media at large. Altmetric scores are available in Global Search and in Scopus.
Since 2011, altmetric scores for articles have been shown in Scopus. Currently, the article “Duodenal infusion of donor feces for recurrent clostridium difficile” has the highest score at Wageningen UR. It has not only been Facebooked and tweeted a lot, but it has also been mentioned in the regular news. By clicking on the altmetric 'donut', you can find all 39 news articles from the 28 different media that have reported on this paper. The possibilities of the Scopus altmetric tool are more comprehensive than the Global Search application.
Research groups can monitor their altmetric score in Scopus. This might be interesting for peer review.
