About Wageningen Data Competence Center

The Wageningen Data Competence Center is the answer of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) to the fast growing amount of digital information available for research (big data). The WDCC aims to integrate and strengthen the existing organization of education and research. The WDCC is organized as a small team that works on the basis of projects together with teachers and researchers from the entire organization on applications in the fields of education and research.

The reason for the establishment of the WDCC is the growing importance of data in society. By exchanging knowledge a widespread understanding arises of the various possibilities of big data, the pros and cons of various analytical methods, experiences with infrastructure and data management, and the different ways to create value.

The program of the WDCC is designed in five policy lines which filled in on a project basis. Case studies make the possibilities of big data clear and test them in practice. Like this, we build a innovative hub for the exchange of data, knowledge and tools 'To explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life'.
