On 11 February 2021, the first national Open Science Festival will be held (online)! This Festival provides researchers the opportunity to learn about the benefits of different Open Science practices.

Meet, share, inspire

This Open Science Festival will provide new insights and, more importantly, practical tools you can use to make your research more open. You can meet peers from WUR and other universities and institutions who are already working openly or who are interested in doing so. Key to the day is sharing knowledge and best practices.

Programme

The festival will include a pre-festival workshop, a variety of online sessions, an online marketplace and virtual social drinks. Participants will have ample opportunity to meet. Various topics on Open Access, FAIR data, Open Education, Open Source and Citizen Science will be presented and discussed. From WUR, information specialist Dr. Nicolien Schmaal will present on Open Science in education, together with colleagues from TU Delft. Erik van den Bergh from the Wageningen Data Competence Center will present a session on FAIR and Open data.

Sessions will vary in level, including sessions for those who simply want to know more about the different aspects of Open Science and its drivers and barriers.

Open Initiatives Trophy

Do you know - or are you - someone who is involved in an initiative that has helped accelerate the adoption of Open Science? With the Open Initiatives Trophy the organization of the Open Science Festival wants to recognise teams or individuals who promote Open Science with their peers and in their local communities in the Netherlands. You can nominate someone using this form  (3 minutes)

Registration

This festival is organised in the context of the National Programme Open Science. The Festival was originally supposed to be hosted by Wageningen University and Research on 27 August 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the rescheduled National Open Science Festival will take place in an online setting.
