As part of 100 years WUR, the Library is lending it's exhibition ‘Asparagus in old books’ to the municipality of Mörfelden-Walldorf (federal state of Hesse) for the area's Asparagus Festival.

From classical Greek and Roman texts, and one of the Library's
oldest books on agriculture (1518) to the beautiful illustrated multivolume Flora Batava by Jan Kops (1807), all books display the diverse aspects of asparagus in medicine, cooking, cultivation and botany.

Wageningen city has a twin city partnership with Mörfelden-Walldorf which lies in one of the main areas of asparagus cultivation in Germany.

The exhibition will be held in the "Kulturhaus", City Library of
Mörfelden-Walldorf and can be seen during its opening hours. The exhibition’s opening reception will be held on Sunday 28 April at 6pm. The exhibition runs until 12 May 2018.
