Borrowing and renewing

The Library offers various lending services for staff and students of Wageningen University & Research (WUR). Visiting scientists, alumni and visitors can also make use of several Library services.

Borrowing

Students and staff of WUR can borrow books and other materials with their WUR card. They are automatically registered as borrowers.

All others can register at the lending desk in Forum Library. See for more info Access and registration.

Registration for a WUR Library membership and borrowing are free of charge. The loan period is 28 days. Most of the books at WUR Library can be borrowed. Some of the books are only available for reference, e.g. rare books, reference works, and compulsory study books.

Renewing & Fines

You can renew your loans if the book has not been reserved for another user. Items may be renewed 10 times provided that the items have not been requested by another user.

It is your responsibility to ensure that items you have borrowed are returned to the Library on time. You will receive a notification by e-mail when the loan period expires. Notifications are sent to your official WUR email account. Notifications for external users are sent to their given email address. Please note that our service provider OCLC, will send
these emails. The sender address is no-reply@oclc.org.

All notices from WUR Library are a courtesy only. Failure to receive these
notifications, for whatever reasons, does not discharge your liability to pay
overdue fines.

Fines

  • 1 - 2 weeks overdue: € 1.00 per volume
  • 3 - 4 weeks overdue: € 3.00 per volume
  • 5 - 6 weeks overdue: € 13.00 per volume

In the 7th week you'll receive an invoice with a minimum charge of €40.00 plus €15.00 handling costs.
