The increased availability of large datasets (big data) makes it possible to meet research questions that could not be answered before. In data driven research these datasets are the starting point on which the research questions are based. The WDCC develops a research programme that via applications connects different science domains of WUR.
The WDDC aims to establish an appealing research programme for applications of big data that creates crossovers between different science groups. The programme focusses on the realization of structural cooperation on this topic between science groups.
The WDCC wants to achieve this by:
- Stimulating to share knowledge by organizing communities
- Developing platforms and methods to make data accessible and to combine different kinds of data
- Developing new concepts and new services based on shared knowledge and combined data
