16th Conference of the Association of Colloid and Interface Scientists – IACIS2018

The conference aims to discuss recent results and future prospects in colloid and interface science and technology. Functional colloids and nanoparticles become more and more part of our life. The field plays an indispensable role in meeting global challenges, i.e. providing energy, food and fresh water, and sustain the environment.

Prof. Hans Lyklema (1930 - 2017) built a strong physical-chemical research group in Wageningen and was in 1979 one of the founding fathers of IACIS, the International Association of Colloid and Interface Science. IACIS aims to promote international collaboration in the field by organizing the triannual IACIS Conferences, a Newsletter and providing travel bursaries. Hans Lyklema was Newsletter editor until 2010 and until today the secretariat of IACIS is housed in Wageningen.

Because of the special band with The Netherlands and in particular Wageningen it was decided to organize the 16th edition of the IACIS Conference in The Netherlands. This is a joint enterprise of the chair group Physical Chemistry and Soft Matter of Wageningen University together with the department of Chemical Engineering of Delft University of Technology. During the conference attention is paid to the 100-year anniversary of Wageningen University.
