Alice Waters | this year’s laureate of the Johannes van Dam Prize about food & culinary culture

Alice Waters (1944) is this year’s laureate of the Johannes van Dam Prize for culinary culture and gastronomy. She is a world famous icon who is known for her strong advocacy of the use of local and seasonal food. In 1971 she opened Chez Panisse in Berkeley, a restaurant where she applied her ideas and which became an example for many chefs. She has also launched The Edible Schoolyard to teach children about the origin of their food. She will be introduced by Louise O. Fresco, WUR’s president, who is also the chair of the jury of the Prize. Simon Vink will interview her.
