Digital Climate Advisory Services: bridging the divide between science, policy and practice’
With this event we investigate and call for actions bridging the divide between science, policy and practice, with a special focus on Digital Climate Advisory Services. We will take stock of the work by WUR on more effective science-policy interfaces in food and climate, the ‘Blueprint for Climate Informed Digital Advisory Services’ by WRI, IRI, WFP, WBCSD and the recently launched ‘Digital Agri Hub’ funded by BMGF, FCDO and USAID. There will be space for interaction with all participants.
The event seeks to articulate the roles linking science to policy and action in support of the Presidency’s campaign on ‘Transforming Agricultural Innovation for People, Nature and Climate’. This seen through digital technologies and innovation and with a focus on Digital Climate Advisory Services.
It will first present the work done by WUR on more effective science-policy interfaces in food and climate. It will then highlight key findings from the ‘Blueprint’: top challenges to creating DCAS, six core data principles guiding investment and service provision and public and private actors needed to build resilience through DCAS. Finally the Digital Agri Hub will be introduced, tracking developments in the D4Ag sector in LMICs addressing small scale producers. Acting as a multi-actor knowledge broker and matchmaking platform, the Hub will leverage inclusive digital solutions and provide a unique perspective for scaling up and investing in digital agricultural innovations
