FameLab Netherlands Wageningen offers students and young researchers the opportunity to participate in this international narrative competition. It is a chance to share an inspiring scientific story with the general public. The participants explain a concept in science in just three minutes, without using Powerpoint. Famelab can be seen as an event that provides participants with skills for the rest of their career.
Due to the Corona virus, this event has been postponed to 17 April 2020. We hope to see you then!
The international Famelab round has been set up by the British Council and Cheltenham Science Festival. Participating researchers, between 21 and 40 years old, tell a story about their research while the audience hangs on their lips – hopefully. A three-member jury judges on content, clarity and charisma.
To give support to the selected participants, they receive a presentation training from a professional trainer (Ward van Beek) prior to their performance. With that knowledge and skills in the pocket and together with the experiences during the Wageningen heat, two finalists can look forward to the national competition between the winners of other universities in the Netherlands. The British Council provides all finalists a two-days master class in Amsterdam. The national winner may take part in the international storytelling battle at the Cheltenham Science Festival in June.
Researchers, students and other persons interested are invited to join the Wageningen heat in the public stand. If you want guaranteed seating, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org stating Famelab. Please come on time, to avoid disturbing the speakers.
