Dutch Spinoza laureate John van der Oost wants to continue discussions regarding GMOs. Is the CRISPR-Cas method that he developed safer than traditional breeding methods, or should it be controlled through strict GMO policy? Van der Oost will discuss this issue with Jan Willem Erisman, director of the Louis Bolk Institute, who is against the use of CRISPR-Cas in ecological agriculture, and with Michelle Habets of the Rathenau Institute, who advocates a ‘third way’ to judge the safety of CRISPR-Cas products.
