Programme

The programme on Saturday April 2, starts with a lunch, followed by two rounds of choice activities. Round 1 will consist of a campus tour (both in English and Dutch) or a guest lecture (given in English). Round 2 will consist of an interactive case study or an interactive irrigation game, both given in English (unless only Dutch speakers are present). Both rounds have a max. of 50 participants per activity, so you may end up being assigned to a different activity than what you had indicated on the sign-up form. At the end of the day, you will have the option of enjoying a drink at the university café “The Spot” (Orion building).

Lunch in the Spot
The day starts off with a short introduction by the lustrum committee, at 13.00 during lunch, which lasts until 14.00. Subsequently, there are two time slots in which all participants are divided according to their desired programme: a campus tour or guest lecture (14.00-15.30) and a workshop or water management game (15.45-17.00).

Round 1 - Campus tour
You get a guided tour of Wageningen Campus to get informed about the physical development and the innovative initiatives. There will be multiple tours simultaneously because the guides can give smaller groups more personal attention.

Round 1 - Guest lecture
The guest lecture is hosted by ir. Jeroom Remmers, manager of TAPPC (true animal protein price coalition). Jeroom (WUR-environmental sciences 1994) will tell you all about the company, the idea behind it and its importance in today's society. The presentation is in English.

Round 2 - Workshop Interactive case study
The workshop consists of a case study, in which four biomes with a problem are discussed. Subdivided into small groups you need to find a solution or adaptation plan visualized in a poster and present it to the rest. This is the opportunity to fall back into those old university group-work times and to let your inner creativity take over.

Round 2 - Water management game
This game will have you living the life of a farmer down a delta. You will experience the struggles accompanying this life, as you will have to grow your crops, keep the farmers next door happy and earn as much money as possible. It’s a nice game to experience water management from another point of view. Drinks & networking in the Spot At 17.00 there is an opportunity to chat and have a drink afterwards in the Spot.

Costs
The costs are 10 euros for non-KNM members. Participation is free for KNM members and students (for KNM members, however, a no-show fee of 25 euros will be charged when staying away without a valid reason).

Dear Environmental Alumni,

This year we have two birthdays coming up: the BES study association Aktief Slip is turning 55 years old, and the alumni association Kennis Netwerk Milieu (KNM) is turning 30! We will celebrate this by hosting an Alumni Day for all the former and current Environmental Sciences students from Wageningen. The Alumni Day will take place on Saturday, the 2nd of April 2022, from 13:00 to 17:00 pm.

We would like to officially invite you to join us during this day full of activities. The program will start with a lunch, followed by two rounds of choice activities. Preliminary announcement

This year study association Aktief Slip will exist for 55 years, and alumni association Kennisnetwerk Milieu for 30! This calls for a celebration. That is why we organise an alumni day for all current and former environmental students from Wageningen on Saturday April 2nd from 13:00 till 17:00 pm.

Are you instantly enthusiastic? Please write down the date in your agenda and fill in the short questionnaire so we can make an estimation of the number of participants. Note: filling in the questionnaire is not a sign up for the day, this will come later.

Do you also want to stay in touch with your former fellow students, who are now working in different environmental professional practices? Then you should become a member of KNM too! Membership costs are 20 euros per year and the first year your membership is free of charge.

About KNM

Kennisnetwerk Milieu (KNM) is the alumni association for students who have studied Environmental Sciences in Wageningen and people who work in the environmental sector and who are affiliated with Wageningen. KNM promotes mutual contacts by organising several activities each year such as symposia, excursions, webinars and other networking activities.
